Reconnect to what makes you happy and brings you Joy. If there is something that used to make you happy, which you have stopped doing, do it again. Seek to find deeper meaning and significance rather than living on the surface.

Stress Management Counselling in Kenya
This is a safe space where you learn to understand what causes your stress, how it affects your mind and body, and how to handle it in healthier ways. Together, we look at your stress triggers, explore practical coping tools like relaxation, better time management, and positive thinking, and build skills to help you feel more in control. The goal is to reduce overwhelm, improve your well-being, and help you live a more balanced, peaceful life.
This is the body’s natural response to pressure, challenges, or demands. It is how your mind and body react when you feel overwhelmed, threatened, or unable to cope with a situation. A little stress can be positive (motivating you to meet deadlines or solve problems), but too much stress for too long can be harmful to both mental and physical health.
- Acute Stress–Short-term stress that comes suddenly and passes quickly, e.g., narrowly avoiding a car accident, giving a speech.
- Episodic Acute Stress–When acute stress happens frequently, people who are always “on edge” or constantly worried experience this; e.g., always rushing, constant deadlines, or over-committing.
- Chronic Stress–Long-term, ongoing stress that does not seem to end, very harmful to health and well-being; e.g., toxic relationships, poverty, long-term caregiving, or stressful jobs.
- Eustress (Positive Stress)–The “Good Stress” that motivates and energizes you, e.g., preparing for a wedding, starting a new job, training for a sport.
- Distress (Negative Stress)–The “Bad Stress” that overwhelms and drains you, e.g., losing a job, constant conflicts, illness.

- A demand or challenge arises - e.g., exams, financial problems, conflict, or illness.
- The brain perceives it as a threat - The hypothalamus signals your body to release stress hormones (like adrenaline and cortisol).
- The body reacts physically - faster heartbeat, tense muscles, rapid breathing, sweating, etc. (fight, flight, or freeze response). If prolonged, the body stays in this heightened state, leading to fatigue, anxiety, or illness.
- Early Detection and Prevention–Counselling helps you recognize stress triggers and symptoms before they escalate into bigger problems like anxiety, depression, or physical illness. Prevents stress from becoming chronic or overwhelming.
- Healthy Coping Strategies–A counsellor teaches practical tools (like relaxation techniques, problem-solving skills, and time management). Instead of unhealthy coping (e.g., overthinking, alcohol, and anger outbursts), you learn constructive ways to handle pressure.
- Emotional Support and Safe Space–Counselling provides a confidential, non-judgmental environment where you can express fears, frustrations, or worries openly. This emotional release itself reduces stress and prevents bottled-up emotions.
- Improved Physical and Mental Health–Reduces risks of stress-related health issues like high blood pressure, heart disease, insomnia, or constant fatigue. Improves concentration, mood, and overall well-being.
- Better Relationships–When stress is unmanaged, it can spill over into relationships, causing irritability, withdrawal, or conflict. Counselling equips you with communication skills and emotional regulation to maintain healthy connections.
- Resilience and Long-Term Growth–You develop resilience, the ability to bounce back from setbacks and challenges. Counselling helps you see stress not just as a burden but sometimes as a stepping stone for personal growth.
